fall essentials

Remember when I mentioned my summer essentials? I can hardly believe it, but it is now time for the fall edition. If there is one thing that makes transitioning from those long, lazy days into cool, crisp weather, it is the fashion (well that and the changing leaves, hard apple cider, pumpkin bread, etc…can you tell I LOVE fall?!). The only thing I don’t like about the fashion right now is how hard it is to shop for fall – it seems like all stores are in that awkward, not-quite-summer, not-quite-fall transition right now. If, like me, you’re feeling a little overwhelmed about what to invest in for this season, scroll down and see what I’ve outlined as the four fall essentials to inspire your autumn wardrobe.

the neutral boot

Wearable in colder and warmer weather, the neutral boot is the perfect wardrobe addition to pull your outfits together in a way that sandals just can’t. Whether you go the casual route (with a sweater and jeans), or a little more fancy (with a skirt or dress), make sure your boot is, above all, comfortable! You’ll want to live in these this season, so invest in a good fit.

the camel coat

This one may be a little bit biased, as I am currently having a one-woman love affair with all things camel, but I think this would make the PERFECT easing into fall/surviving the winter coat. Left open, it’s just warm enough to get you from A to B without freezing, and when it gets really cold, it’s the kind of coat that will still look elegant with a furry hat, gloves, and a scarf. Plus, there is something to be said about coats that cover your butt…just sayin’!

the fedora

What is the easiest way to upgrade an outfit from basic to funky? You guessed it, a hat! Or, rather, accessories in general. This particular accessory is one I have fallen head over heels (pun intended) for. How a fedora can look either bohemian, edgy, modern, cozy, or cool, I don’t know, but they just do! For fall however, the darker, the better.

the black dress

Honestly, what season doesn’t benefit from a little black dress? Ever-slimming, flattering, easy-to-style, and comfortable, the LBD can be styled countless ways to reflect your own personal taste. I plan on wearing mine on the weekend with a kimono and my neutral boots (see above!) for a relaxed, artsy look.
What are your fall essentials? Anything I missed? Can’t believe I am saying this, but I’m sooo excited for sweaters!
