Are you all sick of those ‘New Year, New Life” posts (that are so popular every January) yet?
Well, let’s hope not, because here’s one more!
Let’s be honest: on the whole, 2016 sucked. Personally, it was not that bad a year, but globally, 2016 can truly Kiss. My. Ass.
(Pardon my French.)
I still don’t know what I’m doing with this blog, with my life, with my career, or with anything really*, but I’m embracing 2017 in that naive way we can only do in these first fresh weeks of the new year.
I do have a few resolutions for this year, but I haven’t decided if I want to share them as some are a bit personal. That said, I did create a 2017 Vision Board, which I will happily share as soon as I’m done with it, in case it inspires anyone to do something similar.
Overall, I want 2017 to be more about embracing change, rather than resisting or trying to control it. I also want to keep learning about myself, which was a big part of my 2016.
For example, I learned that being too hard on myself does not do anything to improve my performance, that a change in scenery every once in a while is essential to my overall creativity, productivity, and happiness, and I also learned that my health and the health/well-being of those I love is more important than anything else.
Seems like pretty obvious stuff, but you’d be surprised how much our society makes us believe that the exact OPPOSITE is true (Working harder/longer will make you more successful! You can sleep when you’re dead! Self-care is selfish! And so on, and so on.).
So here’s to 2017, a fresh start and a new opportunity to embrace change, support others, be kinder, think clearer, and experience all the weird and wonderful sh*t life throws at us.
Cheers!
xxLena
*though, honestly, who DOES know what they’re doing? Because I want to meet them. And interrogate them.
