Hello and happy Easter!
I usually spend this holiday with my family at our summer cottage, and to be honest, I’m feeling pretty bummed not to be with them right now.
We’re STILL not in lockdown in Sweden, which is very scary and strange. The streets here in Uppsala are more quiet than usual, but apparently Stockholmers are going to restaurants, bars, cafés, concerts, movie theaters, and using public transport as per usual. Primary schools are open, which is baffling to me, and the public has been advised to ‘Stay home if you feel sick’ and to ‘Wash your hands frequently’. Nevermind the mounting evidence that asymptomatic transmission could be on the rise…
Of course, we are social-distancing as best as we can, but it’s frustrating to see transmission and death numbers rise every day, and to have no concrete direction from our elected officials. Once again, I am grateful for my permanent employment and the luxury of being able to easily work from home.
On a happier note, spring is just around the corner. The trees are starting to blossom, daffodils are popping out of the ground, and the sun has been gracing us every day until 8pm (with the odd rain-shower/hail storm/rainbow occuring once a day). It’s truly amazing what daylight can do for your mental health. I obviously take the dog out every day, but I’ve also been trying to go out on the balcony every once in a while and absorb some sunlight. I planted some seeds last week, so hopefully those grow now that the weather is getting nicer. I went around the apartment this weekend and snapped some pics of the beautiful light we’ve been having.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday or weekend, despite the likely chance that your plans were also cancelled. It sucks, but it’s all about perspective, isn’t it? Things could always be worse.
In the meantime, I made these s’mores brownies to cheer myself up:

Because there’s nothing a little chocolate can’t fix, right?
Take care of yourselves,
xxLéna
